Project title: Regional Prime Contract Scotland - Establishment
Client: Turner Estate Solutions Ltd (formerly AMEC Turner)
Type of contract: Maximum Price Target Cost
Reactive Maintenance on a Secure Site
The project involved emergency and routine reactive maintenance of technical sites and MOD single living accommodation at 48 MOD establishment throughout Scotland. Access to sites was not allowed unless personnel had gone through a rigorous vetting process. Materials would have to be immediately available for repairs on any of the sites throughout the large geographical area.
The contract covered repairs, refurbishment, replacement and maintenance, requiring the following services: plumbing, decorating, joinery, roofing, electrical installation and pest control.
Strategic Placement
Due to strict security, a dedicated team of engineers were hand picked for their skills and all MOD security passed prior to going on site. Strategic locations were set up to cover the geographic distances: in Kinloss in the North, Leuchars and Edinburgh in the East and Helensburgh and Glasgow in the West. Careful positioning of helpdesk and engineering staff ensured all service disciplines were accessible wherever needed, to cater for the one hour call-out time for emergencies, specified by Defence Estates.
An extended supply chain was also established across Scotland to ensure that quality assured standards are maintained throughout the whole process.
Security-Passed Personnel
Past experience of working on establishment sites gave the MOD the confidence to originally appoint Amec Turner and continue to work with Turner Estate Solutions.
Additional Contracts
Due to the logistical handling of this contract and the availability of security vetted staff, other work has been commissioned for tenanted housing on MOD land.
