Project title: Inspecting and testing electrical wiring for a portfolio of BT buildings
Client: Monteray
Preventing Communication Shut-Down
Monteray were looking for a company who would inspect and test electrical wiring for a portfolio of BT buildings. This was to cover BT’s ‘flagship’ building in Newgate Street, in the City of London, and a number of other premises in the South East.
The specific challenge was the 24/7/365 nature of BT’s business. This meant that it was not always possible to completely shutdown the electrical power.
Thermal Image Investigation
To prevent disruption to critical supply a number of project components had to be taken into account. Our Aurora specialists undertook a Thermal Image Survey in order to comply with inspection regulations, where mains supplies could not be disrupted. This established if there were any ‘hot spots’ present which invoked further investigation. Our engineers kept to a strict work regime, compiled up front by Monteray’s Sough East Building Services Manager based in Sevenoaks and on-site personnel at BT. A structured framework of communications was also enforced to ensure everyone was kept informed at all times.
Upon completion, test result, schematic drawings, circuit charts and NICEIC Certification were all presented electronically for storage at BT’s Leeds Central archive building.
Keeping Communications Live
Aurora fitted round the need for permanently live circuits and provided informative reports that helped BT plan for future repairs to their electrical infrastructure.
Expansion of Duties
Additional buildings are being added to the testing schedule on an ongoing basis.
