International Women in Engineering Day

June 20th, 2017

International Women in Engineering Day is back for its fourth year running on Friday 23rd June.

It was originally set up in 2014 by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES) to celebrate its 95th anniversary. Having started as a national, and now international, awareness day, it focuses attention on the amazing careers in engineering and technical roles, especially for girls and young women, and celebrates the achievements of women engineers.

With a large skills gap looming and the need for a more diverse workforce, it has never been more important to inspire and encourage more people, especially women, to choose a career in engineering. Yet women still make up less than 10% of the engineering sector in the UK (data for 2016).

The aim of International Women in Engineering Day is to celebrate the role of women in engineering, to highlight positive role models, and to inspire future and current generations to achieve their potential.

Here at Team Q we are committed to promoting equal opportunities in employment and investing in the right people regardless of colour, race, religion, ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender, marital status, age or disability. We are keen to encourage women into our industry and we always welcome applications from female candidates.
