Fire Safety Awareness Day

November 3rd, 2017

As part of Team Q culture, we are committed to sharing best practice across our industry, especially when it comes to health and safety.

Today we are taking part in Savills’ Focus on Fire Friday and spreading awareness on fire safety. To contribute, we have displayed fire awareness posters around offices and carried out an online Toolbox Talk across the entire company.

Fires are extremely costly to any business and have a financial and human cost, as well as loss of reputation and business.

  •  In England and Wales according to a report by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister in 2004, the total cost of fire was estimated at £7.03 billion.
  •  According to research by the ABI, a total of £629 million was paid out for fire damage in the first half of 2009. That’s the equivalent of £3.6 billion every day.
  •  There were 321 fatalities due to fire in England and Wales in the period 2010 to 2011.

Many of the procedures which are in place in your workplace have been created with the aim of preventing fire and maintaining safety. So, it goes without saying that your safety will be compromised if you don’t comply with company procedures. Failure to follow approved procedures can substantially increase the risk of fire in your organisation.

Please take 10 minutes out of your day today to focus on Fire Safety in your organisation!
